Mishawaka, IN – October 24 -The Shot Peener magazine has named Scott Hatfield as the 2013 Shot Peener of the Year.
“The Shot Peener magazine is pleased to give Scott Hatfield the 2013 Shot Peener of the Year award because of his advancement of the shot peening process in the medical implant industry. Scott sponsored a new specification for medical peening—J3020, Shot Peening of Medical Devices. He worked diligently on this spec and it went through SAE in only two years, which is very unusual. Scott not only incorporated medical industry practices into J3020, but aerospace applications as well.
In addition, he applied his expertise in manufacturing process design and shot peening methodology to the establishment of the first fully validated medical shot peening process.“ said Mr. Champaigne, Editor of The Shot Peener magazine.
Mr. Hatfield is a Manufacturing Engineer at Medtronic Spinal & Biologics, located in Warsaw, Indiana. Upon completion of his BSME, he joined Medtronic, Inc. as a C.A.M. engineer in their Customs, Specials, and Prototype Department, where he was responsible for making prototype design feasibility parts for use in product development. He then advanced into the New Technology R&D Engineering Group where he manages process and product development projects with a focus on design for reliability and manufacturability.
