Warranty and Repairs
Warranty
MagnaValves are warranted to be free from defects in material or construction
and will be repaired or replaced at the manufactures option within the
warranty period. Please contact the factory for a Returned Goods authorization
number to expedite your order. Customer to pay shipping costs from customer
to EI for in-warranty repair. Customer to pay shipping cost both directions
for out-of-warranty items. Please consider calling for technical assistance
prior to returning products to EI. We can often help identify the problem
and perhaps save you a lot of time and expense. If you must return a product
for repair be sure to identify the model and serial number on all packing
slips. Please include the name of a technical contact person in case we
have more questions about the repair.
Out of Warranty
Items out of warranty will be repaired at customer's request and the cost
of repair will be disclosed prior to proceeding with the repair. A purchase
order must be received prior to repair. Please include the name of a technical
contact person in case our repair department has questions regarding the
symptoms.
Warranty Extension
The original warranty will continue in effect after a repair. The repair
work itself will be warranted for 90 days after a repair. In the event
a unit cannot be repaired but must be replaced then the remainder warranty
period will be transferred to the replacement unit
Loaner Equipment
We do not have "loaner equipment" to use during the repair period. You
may purchase a new or used (half price) unit as a spare to use during
the repair period. Warranty on half-price units are half of the original
warranty period. These unit can generally be shipped the same day of request
if received before 12:00 noon.
Customer Support
Engineers on staff may be able to assist you by phone, fax or e-mail to
help determine the status of your equipment. These calls tend to fall
into three categories: 1) no fault found, 2) mis-adjusted, 3) component
defect. We can often save you a lot of time and expense by discussing
the situation prior to sending equipment back for repair.
Field Service
We can make special arrangements for an engineer to visit a job site to
assist in repair diagnosis. The cost is $500 per day plus travel and lodging
expenses. We can also recommend other companies that are factory trained
and available to provide repair or start-up assistance.
Owner's Manuals
Be sure to read the owner's manual or installation manual for your equipment.
Copies are available on-line in pdf
format for easy download. Extensive trouble-shooting information is included
with the manual.
Test equipment
Special test equipment is available from EI that allows complete diagnostic
evaluation of controls or MagnaValves. Cost of the test equipment is $5,000
and includes 2-days of training at the factory. The test panel will accomodate
standard and 24 Vdc controls and valves. It will not evaluate older units
operating at 230 Vac.
Parts for Customer Repair
Controls and flow monitors do not have any customer servicable modules
for replacement. All MagnaValves use a "Valve driver module" to regulate the
magnetic cancellation current and this can be customer replaced. No field
adjustments are required but valve model and serial number must be referenced
for proper replacement. MagnaValves with sensors, (all air type and wheel
types 250 and 500) have a sensor amplifier that can be field replaced.
