Model 362 Controls

Data Sheet   Installation Manual   Application Notes

  • Description of Product
The 362 shot flow control was offered in two mounting styles. The "R" style was for rack mounting, up to 10 modules per rack. The "P" style was for panel door mounting. This controller required an external transformer power for the MagnaValve. Early versions accepted only a 10.4KHz frequency flow rate input signal. The "A" version could also accept a 0-5 Vdc input flow signal. The "AZ" version offered auto-zero to offset the 0-5Vdc drift from the MagnaValve sensor circuit. The "R" style units required cabinet cooling to prevent over-heating.

  • Upgrading to newer product
    1. model FC control (if available)
      • What else is involved-
The FC control is a standard DIN size cutout, larger than used with the 362 control. The FC has a built-in 48Vac transformer and does not need the external transformer used with the 362. However, if you plan to upgrade to the FC you might also consider upgrading the MagnaValve at the same time and then use the next generation FC-24. See below.
    2. model FC-24 Control
      • What else is involved-
The FC-24 uses the same size panel cut-out as the FC but you will have to re-wire for 24Vdc power source. The improved performance of the 24Vdc MagnaValves makes this a worthwhile effort since the valves have higher accuracy and virtually no zero-drift. MagnaValve sensors last about 5-7 years. If your valve is older than that then it is time to consider replacement. Upgrading at the same time will save you time and money.

  • Recommendation for new applications
    • model FC-24
      • Improved performance -
The FC-24 shot flow controller uses the new 24Vdc power system. It is lower cost than the FC and generates less heat. It has new features such as digital settings of servo gain and speed. The gain settings can range from 75% to 150%. You will have to upgrade the MagnaValve to the next generation 24Vdc power at the same time.
